MAYA KA'AN


In Maya Ka'an, the newest destination in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, there is a mystical world where the Mayan culture and tradition live in its people, where the jungle, fauna and flora surround everything. It is a destination where living the ancestral traditions of the Mayans, taste delicious recipes, enjoy mystical experiences and connect with the explorer inside you is possible, discovering new stories everywhere. Maya Ka'an is an immortal region that keeps the earth and the heart, beating. Maya Ka'an is located in the center of the state of Quintana Roo, and includes different locations - such as Felipe Carrillo Puerto and José María Morelos - and regions such as the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, where Punta Allen is located, as well as some areas of Tulum. The area has approximately 250 km2.

How to get there?


There are several routes to get to Maya Ka’an from Highway 307, which connects all destinations from north to south in the state of Quintana Roo. Going south on it, you will find Felipe Carrillo Puerto on the road. If you want to go to José María Morelos, it is necessary to continue on Highway 307, and continue on Highway 184 to the west. We also invite you to visit the small town of Señor with its Blue Lagoon, and its wild fauna and flora.

Sian Ka’an


Declared in 1987 as a World Heritage Site for its incredible biodiversity and natural beauty, it is one of the largest protected areas of our destination. Among more than 345 species of birds and cats such as jaguars, pumas, ocelots and jaguarondis, mammals such as howler and spider monkeys, as well as magnificent reptiles such as crocodiles, turtles and snakes, you will be able to surprise yourself with their free presence of the interventions of civilization. Truly a paradise, Sian Ka’an means ‘where the sky is born’, and when you visit it, you will understand why.

How to get there?


You can access the reservation on federal highway 15 that can be described as rustic but scenic, with views of the sea, and that extends from the southern zone of the Hotel Zone of Tulum to Punta Allen, 57 km to the south. Travel time is approximately two hours, depending on weather conditions.

Activities


In addition to wildlife sightings, you can float on its crystalline channels between mangroves, kayak, dive or swim on its beaches. Punta Allen is home to approximately 600 people who depend on the spiny lobster fishery, a species found in the area. Tulum


This archaeological site is located northeast of the town of Tulum, just outside of it. On Highway 307 you can access it following the signs along the way.

The site is open all year, except on national holidays, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information, we invite you to visit our section of Herencia Maya

Cobá


Cobá is the highest pyramid in the entire peninsula and is located 30 minutes from the archaeological site of Tulum. To access the site, just follow Highway 307 and take a deviation to the north, following the road signs on Highway 109. Come and breathe the purest air from the top of the pyramid and to explore the jungle by bicycle. Visit Mayan Heritage.

Muyil


A small Mayan site located inside the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, next to the Chunyaxché lagoon. You can access it from Federal Highway 307, since the entrance is just to the side of the road. It is located only 25 km south of Tulum and 70 km northeast of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. For more information visit Mayakaan.travel

Playa del Carmen How to get there?


Located just 55 km from the International Airport of Cancun, you can get to Playa del Carmen through Highway 307. The journey takes 50 minutes by terrestrial transportation. You can also take an aero taxi to the small airport of Playa del Carmen, which offers trips from Cancun or Cozumel. Another way to get to the Riviera Maya from Isla Cozumel, is to take a ferry with live music during the journey that you can enjoy along with incredible views of the sea.

What to do?


Touring 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen is something you must do. In the Quinta, there are shopping centers with international brands of clothing, perfumery, makeup and costume jewelry among other high-end products. In this pedestrian avenue that runs through the city in just a few steps from the coast, we can find restaurants, bars, boutiques, art galleries and handicrafts, ideal to carry a memory of your visit. Visit the shopping malls that offer popular high-end brands in Quinta Alegría, Calle Corazón and Paseo del Carmen.

There is much to do in Playa del Carmen, since the sun rises you can do yoga on the beach, at dusk you can enjoy a snack by the sea, at night go to the nightclubs and dance to the rhythm of our Caribbean music. Even when it rains you can do many things like visiting L’Aquarium, an aquarium on Calle Corazón that supports the reforestation of our reefs and teaches its visitors the different ecosystems that exist in the region. In addition to enjoying the nightlife of the city, delight your palate in the exquisite restaurants of international and national food found in the city.

In Playa del Carmen, there is a private complex called Playacar, where you can stay in wonderful high class hotels, enjoy the golf course and incredible winding and tree-lined streets. The game environment is relaxed and luxurious, with beautiful shopping centers inside to enjoy the nature that Riviera Maya offers.

Tulum

How to get there?


Tulum is 117 km/72 miles south of the Cancun International Airport, and you can get there by taking the Highway 307 in approximately 120 minutes. You can also access from the interior of the Yucatan Peninsula from José María Morelos on Highway 184, and turn to Highway 307 where you’ll go through Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

Hotel zone


Tulum is a charming little town, which attracts visitors from all over the world. Its magic lies in its simple boho-chic spirit and its ecological quality. Next to the sea, there are approximately 100 properties that comprise the hotel complex. Incredible boutique hotels with decorative touches typical of the nature of the area, will immerse you into the mystical jungle.
