Sprint Triathlon 2012 to Attract Athletes and Celebrities to the Riviera Maya
* Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park will bring together 300 national and international athletes for the second edition of this sporting event to be held on May 13, 2012

Riviera Maya, Q. Roo (February 2012) More than 300 national and international athletes will meet in the Riviera Maya to participate in the 2nd Annual 2012 Sprint Triathlon to be held on Sunday, May 13 at Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Spa & Nature Park.
The major sporting event, organized by Aire Libre and sponsored by the Sunset Group World Resorts & Vacation Experiences ecotourism resort, aims to highlight the natural beauty offered by the Caribbean Mexican and promote sports tourism in the area.
The competition, backed by the Mexican Triathlon Federation, consists of a 750 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike ride and 5 kilometer run. The categories will include male and female branches, from age 16 to 50 and older. Awards and trophies will be given for the first three places in each class.
The 1st Annual Sprint Triathlon was held in March last year and was attended by approximately 270 of the best amateur and professional runners, cyclists and swimmers.
Aire Libre is working in conjunction with the Non-Violence Foundation, a group with more than 15 million members which is led by Yoko Ono and the Council of the Nobel Peace Prize. Its goal is to raise awareness of ecological nonviolence. They are also working with Livestrong Foundation, founded by legendary cyclist Lance Armstrong.
A press conference will take place on May 10 to announce the details of the competition. Registration of athletes will be held on May 12 and the competition is on Sunday, 13 May.
